Tasting Notes
Very Smooth.
Barceló Añejo shows a golden light golden amber color. Wonderful aromas of oaky caramel and light milk chocolate get your attention like a kid in a candy store, and the taste just builds from there.  A sweet, substantial body delivers delicious flavors that define how good an affordable rum can be, including toasted wood, toffee, leather, and just a spicw. The finish is short lived with a toasted oak, anise, and a cinnamon fade.

Anecdotes
Barcelo rums start with sugar cane honey (reduced sugar cane juice), column distilled and then aged in used Kentucky Bourbon oak barrels.  A wide range of delicious and affordable rums flcok the DR, and while Barcelo does not command the highly popular domestic market share of Brugal, it is one of the island's finest brands.  The Dominican Republic is home to many exquisite rums, noteworthy among them are Barcelo's own Imperial Premium Blend 21, Bermudez’ 1852 Anniversario and Brugal’s Siglo de Oro and 1888.  But the real story of the eastern side of Hispaniola are the rums affordable enough for everyday drinking, such as this Añejo.

Opinion
Barcelo Añejo leaves little to be desired and everything to be savored.  It’s a celebration of relaxed island life in a bottle.
Barcelo Anejo is an instantly likeable rum, smooth and flavorful enough to sip neat, but capable of making good cocktails even better.  Neat or mixed, Salud!
