Tasting Notes 
Very Smooth.  To my eyes, Brugal Blanco is crystal clear, platinum even, or as Brugal likes to say “Shiny.”   If colorless can be attractive, this is it.

The aromas are so light and clean they give the sense of pure, sweet clarified sugarcane, mild citrus, with slight coconut, vanilla, and just a twinge of alcohol in your nose.  The initial taste reveals a more full bodied rum than we normally expect from a blanco, but it’s undeniably smooth, refined with a crisp sweetness that to gives a lasting finish when sipped neat, and adds that desirable white rum zest to delicate cocktails.

Anecdotes 
Brugal Blanco is distilled in stills produced in India from sugarcane molasses grown in the Dominican Republic.  A proprietary strain of yeast (also sourced from India) is introduced to the wash, and fermentation is allowed to occur for approximately 40 hours was is allowed to ferment for approximately 40 hours.  Brugsl rums are given two passes through the column stills.  The first pass yields a spirit of 90% ABV, the second pass through the rectifying column raises that to about 95% ABV. The spirit is diluted to 65% ABV for aging.  Blanco is aged for up to two years in white American oak barrels formerly used to age bourbon, and stacked in a vertical orientation at Brugal’s aging facilities.  Before bottling the rum is diluted with pure mountain spring water from Puerto Plata.

Opinion 
The characteristic fishnet packaging that surrounds most of Brugal’s rums appears most attractive on the Blanco bottle over all the others.  The white thread adds a rich silvery appearance to the rum and makes the bottle look more upscale without burdening the customer with costly irrelevant adornment.  But quality is really about the rum inside, and there, 

Brugal Blanco does not disappoint.  It’s as pleasing to the eye as it is to drink, especially in a classic cocktail.  My personal choice is a simple daiquiri, where it is absolutely brilliant.
