Tasting Notes
Flor de Caña 12 year old is a beautiful medium-dark shade of amber.   It’s floral on the nose and slightly flowery upon initial taste, with some butterscotch followed by a soft, petal-like consistency that entices rather than overwhelms the tongue. This 12 year old rum isn’t overly complex, but it is unique, pleasant, and and rewarding if you desire a subtle sipping experience. The finish is dry, leaving a delicate aftertaste.

After your next extravagant dinner, pour yourself a small amount of Flor de Caña 12 Year Old instead of Madeira or dessert wine.  While it’s not overly complex, it is finely rounded and is aptly named, delivering a soft butterscotch flavor.  Flor de Caña isn't trying to taste like anything other than what it is; a fine delicate rum devoid of added flavors. There's nothing artificial here - just a very smooth, easy sipping rum that is best served neat. I especially enjoy sipping the 12 in warmer climates, and rarely use it in fruity drinks, though a classic daiquiri can be pretty special. Fortunately Flor de Caña 12 year old is widely distributed so it is reasonably easy to find in the US at premium liquor stores or online.

Flor de Caña translates from Nicaragua’s native Spanish language into English as "flower of cane.” And that's a perfectly fitting name for this rum, which pleases the nose with scents of an aged rum infused flower garden. Pleasing to look at too, the 12 year old rum pours its deep colored rum from a unique bottle used on by its distiller, setting your expectations for a well aged, smooth rum. No disappointment here, this Nicaraguan beauty satisfies your tastes with a rich rum appeal, smoothed by aging.
