Daiquiri Derivatives

Hemingway Daiquiri
Ingredients
  
2 oz White or Pale rum (Pilar Blonde shown in photo,)
3/4 Fresh Lime juice 
1/2 oz Fresh Grapefruit juice (use Red Grapefruit juice for a less tart drink)
1/2 oz Maraschino liqueur 

Crafting
Glass: Old-style champagne glass-chilled (a Martini glass is OK)
Method: Fill shaker with ice
Add ingredients
Shake moderately and strain into a chilled glass
Garnish with lime wheel and/or Grapefruit twist (optional)


El Presidente
Ingredients  
1.5 oz Aged rum (Havana Club 7 Años used in this photo.   
Barcelo Añejo and Barrilito aged rums are also suitable.)
3/4 oz Dry Vermouth
1/4-1/2 oz Grenadine (use concentrated Cherry juice for a creamier drink)
1/4 oz Curacao

Crafting
Glass: Old-style champagne glass, chilled (Martini glass is OK)
Method: Combine ingredients with ice in a barglass.  (Adjust Grenadine, Cherry concentrate to suit your taste.)
Stir, then strain into a chilled glass.  Garnish with orange or lemon twist.


Mary Pickford
Ingredients
  2 oz Light or Pale rum (Abuelo Añejo used for this photo, Havana Club Añejo, Denizen and Santa Teresa Claro are also excellent choices)
2 oz Pineapple juice
1 teaspoon Grenadine syrup (or 1/2 tsp concentrated Cherry juice)
1 teaspoon Maraschino liqueur 

Crafting
Glass: Old-style champagne glass, chilled (Martini glass is OK)
Method: Fill shaker with ice
Add ingredients (Grenadine, Cherry concentrate and Maraschino liqueur to suit)
Shake vigorously and strain into a chilled glass (Cherry+more shake = more froth)
Optional - Garnish with cocktail cherry (or lime wheel for a contemporary version).
